To set up a new website you have to take many things into consideration.
The biggest thing you have to figure out is how much time you have, and
how much time you will be able to devote on a continueing basis to your
new website.
I have started a couple new websites and started my link exchange campaign.
I was not really planning on spending 20 hours a week doing this. My
first thoughts were that it would run with only a few hours on my part.
Now after I have spend more than 200 hours the last month I see that
some of these things really can suck the time right out of you.
I was sending out emails and listing sites in my database to trade
links because I really wanted my new little site to get some traffic.
Now I can see there is no limit to the amount of time you can spend
trading links, there are always a million more sites you have not been
too.
And if you sign up to enough directories you will get a box full of
emails asking to trade links, just entering all the
name/url/descriptions in the links database can take many hours each
week.
So be careful to figure out how much time you want to spend on your site and plan accordingly.
I have now switched my linking campaign over to a much less time
intensive system. I wish I have figured this out when I started.
Now I simply reply to all the emails with a link to my submit page, a
lot of people will not want to do that, but the few I get will be
enough for me.
