PPC vs SEO web site hits

There are some major ways and minor ways to get traffic to your blog:

Pay Per Click (PPC)

Pay Per Click is probably the fastest and most reliable way to get traffic.

The problem is the cost, if you’re trying to make money then you have to earn more for each click you get than you paid for it.  And there is the big question, can you generate more income than you’re paying for advertising.

The big players in PPC are Google, Yahoo, and MSN.  There are a lot of things to know about placing ads and what will sell.

Start small and save some money by making all your mistakes cheap, then when you find something that works you can crank up your advertising campaign and make some money.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

This is where you can get some free traffic to your web site.  But realistically it is going to cost you either time or money, and frequently it will cost you both.

Learning how to do good SEO work to get to the top of the serps is going to take a lot of your time.  When you figure all the hours you will spend and what you will ultimately get out of it, many times you will find it’s not a good exchange.

Hiring a company can get very expensive so make sure you can generate enough income with your web site so that you can pay for your professional SEO.

Once again it is best to start out small, pick some very specific key words and have a few pages optimized for them.  Then look at what kind of results your getting.
