Meta Tag Keywords

Meta Tag Keywords are currently used by almost no one.  A hand full of people say that if your publishing Adsense ads then they might be useful for targeting ads.

If you do include them, they can’t hurt you as long as they are relevant to the page content and you don’t have too many of them.

You probably don’t want to use more than about a dozen at the most.

Before the advice was to use as many as you could. But so many people were overdoing it that search engines gave up using them and they have now become almost worthless.

This should give you an idea what Google thinks about them – Blogger does not even use them for their blogs.

Blogger also leaves out the Meta Tag description also.

Google still uses the description tag for their search engine if your page has one.  But if you don’t have one I don’t Google minds at all.

Meta tag keywords are a hold over from the olden days of the web, and now that Google ignores them they will soon die a natural death.

Everyone knows your links play the largest roll now. Then your title tags, heading tags and content probably have a secondary part.
